Distillations Gold Star Vol. 25 No. 04

Luxardo Bitter Bianco

This year, Luxardo celebrates two centuries of spirits production, and with products like this Bitter Bianco, it’s easy to see why the distillery has had such a long and fruitful life. This spirit amari is as enjoyable as it is colorless, produced from a distilled infusion of aromatic plants and bitter herbs like thyme, rhubarb, and wormwood. It’s a clear expression of bitter without the traditional artificial coloring, but Bitter Bianco manages to showcase more balance and depth of flavor than some of its colorful Italian cousins. An aroma of bright roots, soft baking spice, and sweet, citrus give way to a rich palate full of dried orange and licorice, perfectly bittered and ready for your next aperitif or creative cocktail. I personally suggest a White Negroni.
