Michter’s has several different bourbons in their impressive lineup, but the 10-year-old single barrel is one of the most sought after. Don’t take my word for it though. Just recently someone paid over $200,000 at auction for a private barrel this summer. While many of these releases have impressed, I have to agree with Michter’s Master Distiller Dan McKee when he calls the 2021 bottling “a full-bodied, special bourbon.” Aged a healthy ten years in Michter’s heat-cycled warehouses, the latest iteration of this fan-favorite whiskey is chock full of big, bold bourbon notes from an aroma of cocoa powder, barrel char, and flamed orange peel to a silky, sweet palate showcasing cinnamon sugar, chocolate-covered cherries, toasted oak, and a lingering, spice-filled finish. Special, indeed.
