Absente is a French absinthe distilled with natural ingredients, including wormwood, fennel, star anise, and other botanicals. It is bottled at a high alcohol content of 55% ABV and is traditionally diluted with water prior to drinking. The aroma is invigorating, with a strong licorice scent that is complemented by notes of anise. The flavor is powerful, with a slight burn that lingers on the tongue. It is best diluted with water and a sugar cube, which allows the flavors of the anise to come through.
