Meet one of our 2022 Santé Magazine Wine Competition Winners

Tolosa

Tolosa Chardonnay won the Best in Show award for the White wine category in the 2022 Santé Magazine Wine & Spirits competition. For information on Tolosa Chardonnay, go to https://www.tolosawinery.com/.

Tolosa Winery, founded by Robin Baggett in Edna Valley, is the embodiment of a visionary pursuit. Baggett’s initial aspirations of owning a cattle ranch gave way to the realization of a different frontier—the microclimate in Edna Valley, with its cold Pacific winds and diverse soils, proved to be the perfect canvas for nurturing sensitive Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. Planting the home ranch in 1988 marked the beginning of Baggett’s relentless quest to create complex, nuanced, and balanced wines of distinction. His unwavering belief in terroir and the essence of place led him and his dedicated winemaking team to explore other special terroirs throughout California, seeking out the finest pockets of soil that, when combined with the right clones, rootstocks, and farming practices, could produce exemplary Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays that truly express their origin. Tolosa Winery stands as a testament to Baggett’s unwavering commitment and tireless efforts in crafting unparalleled Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, each bottle a distinctive testament to the terroir from which it hails, rivaling the best in the world.
